Capacity is the ceiling. Eight years from the finish, on your only pot, a deep equity hole may not climb back before you sell. It ignores how brave you feel.

Need is the floor. If about 9 percent gets you there and a 60/40 already delivers it, more equity buys upside you did not need and a hole you cannot afford.

Tolerance is the loudest, and the only one a quiz can score. When the three disagree, sit at the lowest number that still meets the goal. Not the bravest one.
