The Rs 50 lakh minimum on a PMS is not a quality filter. It is a rule.

The gap between the PMS door at Rs 50 lakh and the SIP door at Rs 500, into basically the same listed stocks. One is a wealth threshold SEBI set in 2020. Neither number says a word about returns.
Cousin pinged me over the weekend, half sold on a PMS his relationship manager had just pitched. Rs 50 lakh to get in. And the ticket size had somehow become the pitch. Costs that much, must be the good stuff. Here is the part nobody says out loud. That Rs 50 lakh is not a bar the strategy has to clear. It is a bar you have to clear. SEBI set it so only investors it assumes can sit through the risk walk in. The strategy on the other side is buying the same public market your Rs 500 SIP can.
